Facebook Vehicle Catalog

The Facebook Vehicle Catalog add-on keeps a vehicle catalog in your Facebook business account filled with your DealerZone inventory. Once connected, DealerZone syncs your inventory to Facebook every hour: new vehicles are added, price and detail changes are updated, and sold vehicles are removed. Your catalog is what Facebook's Automotive Inventory Ads run on, so you or your ad agency can advertise your current inventory without entering vehicles by hand.

The catalog does not post free Marketplace listings. Facebook does not allow automated free listings for dealers; your vehicles reach shoppers through ads that use the catalog.

Before You Start

  • A Facebook business portfolio (formerly Business Manager) for your dealership. If you do not have one, create it at business.facebook.com before connecting.
  • A personal Facebook account that has full control of that business portfolio. The person connecting must be able to add assets and approve apps for the business.

Connecting to Facebook

Most of the connection happens on Facebook's screens, not in DealerZone. Follow these steps closely, especially step 5.

  1. In DealerZone, go to Add-ons, turn on Facebook Vehicle Catalog, and open its settings page.
  2. Click Connect to Facebook. Facebook opens. Log in to your Facebook account if you are not already logged in.
  3. Choose your dealership's business portfolio.
  4. Below the business portfolio, choose a catalog. You can pick a catalog you already have, or create a new one. To create one, keep the suggested name DealerZone or type your own.
  5. Important: when creating a new catalog, Facebook preselects the catalog type Generic. Change it to Vehicles. A catalog's type cannot be changed later, so a catalog created as Generic will not work and has to be replaced with a new one.
  6. Finish the catalog, then click Confirm on the final screen. Facebook sends you back to DealerZone.
  7. Back in DealerZone, if your business has more than one catalog, choose the catalog you just created from the Vehicle catalog list and click Save.

The connection is complete once the settings page shows a catalog ID. Your first sync runs within the hour, or click Sync now to start it right away.

Which Vehicles Are Synced

  • Vehicles whose status has Send to Feeds checked. Change this per status under Settings → Vehicle Data → Statuses.
  • Each vehicle needs a price, at least one photo, and a location. Facebook also needs every location to have an address and map coordinates (latitude and longitude). DealerZone shows a warning at the top of every page when a location is missing them; fix it under Settings → Locations.
  • Dealers with several locations can leave some out of the sync using the location filters on the add-on settings page.

The add-on settings page lists any vehicles that could not be sent and why, and has a View in Commerce Manager link to see your catalog on Facebook.

Disconnecting

Click Disconnect Facebook on the add-on settings page to stop syncing. To fully remove DealerZone's access, also remove DealerZone from your business portfolio's connected apps in Facebook's business settings. See Data Deletion for how your data is handled.
